As you may have surmised from recent posts, much of my sewing time lately has been consumed by finishing pillows, photographing pillows, editing and uploading pillow photos, listing pillows on Etsy, updating Flickr groups… it seemed endless.
By the time the Sunday rolled around I wanted to sew on something not-pillow. Preferably something completely mindless. And I have just the project on hand: my World Traveler blocks (the ones that look like this when done:)
It’s an excellent project for low mental stamina days. So I sat at the machine and sewed and sewed and sewed WT strip sets together until I’d done the sets for all 34 remaining blocks.
They make a huge pile on the ironing board.
Looks like I’ve got some pressing to do next.
Best part? This is such a scrappy project that it can be done with whatever thread colors you’ve got lying around. So I gathered all my almost-empty spools and partially filled bobbins and used them up!
Five thread spools and nine bobbins decluttered!
I’m not so looking forward to pressing those miles of seams, but a day will come when I want to do something on a sewing project but don’t feel much like sewing, and these will be perfect for that moment, too.
What’s your favorite kind of mindless sewing?
