I forgot to take a picture of the design wall yesterday, but that’s okay because there’s been no change to it over the past few days. Olympic mode has set in, which means sewing hour happens at the couch.
You’ve seen one of the NYB blocks before; the other three renditions of “Block B” are new. The plan was to trim/square-up and take a photo of each, but that hasn’t happened yet.
Also up there:
- Two more “World Traveler” blocks ready to be sewn up whenever I get to them (and a few more sewn strip sets draped over the machine at lower left). Low urgency, although it’s nice to add to the finished blocks pile from time to time. Current block count is, um, a few higher than last month and nowhere near done.
- That’s last month’s BoM still hanging around. Victoria’s July block looks like fun, but fabric inspiration for that one has not yet struck.
- The “series class” homework has endured another month of total neglect. It might set a record for languishing on the design wall. I did prep a few more pieces for the top section, then discovered I’d pressed the freezer paper to the wrong side of half of them, so tossed those and walked away. Hope mojo returns for this small project eventually; things do not go well when I try to force it from a mojo-deprived state.
- Those bright strippy bits are something I’m playing around with. I think they will be paired in some way with linen solids which I have acquired and prewashed but not yet pressed or starched, but that could change.
I had the hubris, a month ago, to list some July sewing goals, almost all of which have fallen by the wayside. Which is fine, as I’ve been super-busy with desk stuff and that’s all important, too, even if it goes unmentioned here except as a recurring reason that little sewing got done.
The ONE big thing I want to finish up for August is quilting the Improvi-Robin top. Sadly, it is not yet basted, but I have selected this Valorie Wells print (those roses are about 6″ across)…
… for the back, so that’s a teeny step forward.
What’s your ONE big thing for August?
